In the last four years since the Trust began making awards, over £20,000 has been given to successfull applicants.

2019

We were very pleased to make awards to three siblings living in Cleobury Mortimer.

One award was made towards the cost of books requried for a BSc course in chemistry at Plymouth University. A second was mde to help with travel costs for a young man who was going off to Kenilworth sixth-form college. Living in a rural area, travel costs can be a sigificant burden

The third award was to help with the special educational needs of a young lad.

2020

We were pleased to receive updates on all three siblings who are thriving in their education journeys and were happy to offer additional help.  Travel costs to Ludlow College (the journey to Kenilworth had proved too dififcult), books and travel costs and help wiht additional needs costs.

The St Mary's Youth Project in Cleobury Mortimer is a community focused outreach project which aims to serve whole families within our locality through many different ways, and the Community Hub in Lower Street is a thriving centre of activity. We provided a grant of £2800 towards building a climbing wall at the Hub.

2021

We made a grant towards a young lady living in Cleobury Mortimer, who had lost her confidence during COVID, towards the costs of indivdual tutoring in French, Physics, Biology and Chemistry for her GCSEs.

We paid for private tutoring in French to a ypoung lady in similar circumstances.

A young lad who had won a scholarship to Malvern College needed help with additional costs and we made a grant towards books and clothing.

The Trustees have wide discretion in making awards and have adopted a broad definition of education. A local lady providing physiotherapy for horses wanted to know more about equine anatomy. We paid for her to attend a course in whihc a horse was dissected.

For a third year, we helped two of the three siblings who were our first awardees. For the younger one, we provided funds towards craft workshops which helped develop social as well as practical skills. For his brother, we helped with tuition fees.

2022

Our first award this year was help towards buying a laptop for a young student in Hopton Wafers.

An award was made for a substantial amount to a local young man studying for a BSc in Agri-Food Business with Marketing, towards the purchase of a laptop.

We funded additional costs for uniform and clothing for our young protegé at Malvern College.

In early 2022, we amended the objects of the Charity to allow for the provision and maintenance of facilities for education and recreation. It gave us great pleasure to help the Trustees of the much loved and well-used Cleobury Mortimer Parish Hall with a grant of £5,800 towards updating the ageing electrics.

2023

We provided further help to our horse physiotherapist for online courses towards a qualification from teh nationally recognised College of Equine Studies.

The sister of the young man in Hopton Wafers whom we helped in 2022 was also helped with funds towards a laptop, thus avoiding subling rivalry.

Funds were given to a young man in Hopton Wafers towards the costs of a volunteer trip to help the inhabitants of a Kenyan village.

Assistance was given to a talented young rugby player in Doddington towards the costs of attending a combined rugby and academic course at Henley College in west London.

The Trust has an objective of providing awards with a particular emphasis on Christian ecumenical education. We gave an award to Clee Hill Primary school towards the costs of taking children to the church at Doddington to learn about Christianity.

Our young protegé at Malvern College had outgrown his uniform and sportswear. We provided funds for replacements and hope his growth slows down.

We helped a young student in Cleobury Mortimer with funds towards the purchase of a laptop to be used studying for a degree in business management.

A chance conversation with two policemen about the lack of facilities for young people in Cleoury Mortimer led to the establishment of a boxing club - open to all - in the Parish Hall. We provided a large grant towards the purchase of equipment.
